The Jewish Alliance of Greater Rhode Island welcomes Noam Sienna to the Dwares Jewish Community Center on Feb. 26. Sponsored by the Community Relations Council and its LGBTQ+ Advisory Committee, Sienna will read selected stories from his collection of queer Jewish texts, “A Rainbow Thread: An Anthology of Queer Jewish Texts From the First Century to 1969.” Spanning two millennia, five continents, and containing translations from 15 languages, the book is a collection of  more than 100 sources on the intersection of Jewish and queer identities.

Noam Sienna is a Jewish educator, artist and doctoral student at the Unversity of Minnesota. His academic work has explored art, magic and gender and sexuality particularly among Jewish communities of the Islamic world. He has taught about Jewish culture and history at academic and community venues around the world.

The program begins at 7 p.m. There will be a Q&A after the reading, followed by a book signing. For more information or to RSVP, contact Stephanie Hague at shauge@jewishallianceri.org.
