Leon A. Resnick, 96

WARWICK, R.I. – Leon A. Resnick died July 31 at Providence VA Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of the late Beverly S. (Rotenberg) Resnick. They were happily married for 57 years.

Leon was in the wholesale fruit and produce business for over 60 years, retiring at age 77.  He was a member of Temple Torat Yisrael, Chabad of West Bay, Touro Fraternal Association, Cranston Senior Guild, Jewish War Veterans Post 23 and a life member of DAV and American Legion. He served with pride in the Army with the 315th Combat Engineers in England, France, Belgium and Germany, where he was wounded. He participated at the Battle of the Bulge, the Rheinland, Ardennes-Alsace-Lorraine and received four Bronze Stars and a citation from the Republic of France.

He was the devoted father of Jerri Labush and her husband, Harold, of Cranston, and George Resnick and his wife, Kathleen, of South Carolina. He was the dear brother of the late Earl and Max Resnick. He was the grandfather of Joshua Resnick and great-grandfather of five. Leon is also survived by nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late Morris and Fannie Resnick. Leon loved to dance, sing and tell jokes.
